How many passengers are in a helicopter?

For Private bookings, the passengers are those who are part of your booking request. The maximum amount is determined by the helicopter capacity, which depends on the model.

For Shared or Seats bookings, the number of passengers depends on the amount of people who booked a similar flight

Bags

Maximum dimensions and weight

The maximum dimensions are 60 X 45 X 25 cm.

The maximum weight is 21kg.

We recommend using soft luggage.

Luggage allowance

Monacair allows for one standard baggage (maximum weight and dimensions in the previous question) as well as one small handbag (purse, briefcase) per person.

Extra luggage policy

Extra luggage is subject to feasibility and not applicable for online bookings.

For any flight, extra bags will be charged 20 € per bag (25 € during the Grand Prix periods from the previous Wednesday to the following Tuesday) if acceptable within the helicopter.

If the number of additional luggage requires Monacair to operate a second helicopter, the cost of the additional helicopters needed will be at the Passenger’s own costs.

The passenger undertakes to communicate to Monacair at least 24 hours in advance any information requiring special care (fragile luggage or with dimensions outside the authorized standard, stroller, animals, etc.) and assume the consequent additional cost.

Delay and cancellation

Policy

Please refer to our Terms & Conditions

Cancellation due to weather conditions

In case of cancellation of the flight by MONACAIR due to bad weather conditions, the ticket is transformed into a credit note. The flight may be rescheduled at a later date and time within a limit of 3 months. Above the 3 months, the ticket will be refunded in full.

Fares and payment

Fares

For helicopter transfers, Monacair uses three different types of fares.

Private

The displayed price is valid for an entire helicopter, regardless of the number of passengers onboard.

This fare is always available.

Flights booked with this fare are flexible and refundable as described in our Terms and Conditions.

Shared

The displayed price is valid for an entire helicopter, regardless of the number of passengers on board.

Customers selecting this fare agree that the empty seat(s) will be put up for sale for other potential passengers.

This fare is only available on specific routes and will not appear if the chosen helicopter is at maximum passenger capacity.

In exchange for sharing their flight with other passengers, customers selecting this option enjoy two benefits:

  • A significant discount compared to the Private fare
  • A potential refund based on how many empty seats are sold

The flight is non-lexible and non-refundable as described in our Terms and Conditions.

Seats

The displayed price is determined by the number of passengers.

The number of passengers does affect the price.

This fare is only available if another customer has chosen the Shared fare on the same requested route and date.

Customers selecting this fare agree to get onboard another customer’s flight and depart at a time that may or may not differ from their requested departure time.

The flight is non-flexible and non-refundable as described in our Terms and Conditions.

Online payment VS Online Quote

Monacair allows online booking from or to more thant 600 locations.

For custom locations selected via Google Maps, flights are subject to feasibility and fares are estimates based on GPS coordinates selected by the customer.

For such requests, Online Payment is disabled and Monacair will revert with a quotation as soon as possible.

Online Payment Security

Monacair uses Stripe for both online payments and payments by phone or email.

Stripe has been audited by a PCI-certified auditor and is certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1. This is the most stringent level of certification available in the payments industry. To accomplish this, we use the best-in-class security tools and practices to maintain a high level of security at Stripe.

First time in a helicopter

What is the temperature onboard?

The temperature onboard is usually between 18°C and 21°C as the whole fleet benefits from an air-conditioning system.

How do weather conditions affect helicopters?

The main criteria to keep flying with helicopter is visibility and wind in line with European Aviation Safety Agency.

Light rain that doesn’t impede visibility doesn’t prevent helicopter flights.

In the case of heavy rain or fog we may need to postpone or cancel flights.

We will do our best to notify you as soon as we know your flight will be postponed or canceled. Depending on the location, weather can change rapidly. Monacair will always try to slightly postpone or reschedule your flight. If you are unable to reschedule your flight, it is fully refundable.

How fast and how high do helicopters fly?

Helicopters are required to fly at a minimum of 500 feet (m) above sea level, and on average between 1,000 feet (m) and 1,500 feet (m).

Helicopter flying speed is between 120knots (222km/h) and 150 knots (278km/h), except during take-off and landing.

Are helicopters noisy?

Monacair has invested in several best-in class helicopters such as Airbus H130 T2 which are characterized by the best noise reduction technology.

In addition, the entire Monacair fleet is equipped with headsets for each passenger which are further reducing noise, so that you may enjoy a pleasant and comfortable flight.

I suffer from aerophobia and claustrophobia. Do you recommend helicopter flying?

From our many years of experience, most passengers who suffered from aerophobia in airplanes told us they did not experience any fear or anxiety when flying in a helicopter.

We believe the visibility provided by the open-cabin design, especially on single-engine aircrafts, and the expertise of our pilots are the main reasons explaining this pleasant feedback.

The panoramic view provides a clear appreciation of surroundings and allows passengers to predict helicopter movements, giving them a sense of control and reducing their anxiety.

We leave this decision to each individual.

What should I eat or not eat before a flight?

We recommend to have a light meal and avoid alcohol before the flight in order to have a pleasant and comfortable flight.

Monacair reserves the right to refuse any passenger who appears to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Can I take pictures or videos onboard?

Yes, taking pictures and videos onboard in allowed.

Mobile phones must be set on airplane mode during the entire duration of the flight, including take-off and landing.

Can I take pictures or videos when embarking or disembarking?

We strongly recommend that you focus on the personnel’s instructions while embarking or disembarking the aircraft. If you wish to take a picture, please ask the personnel.

Selfie sticks are entirely prohibited inside and outside the aircraft.

Can I ask questions to the pilot?

Yes. All our pilots speak English and French.

Headset is the main tool to communicate with the pilot if required.

Please note that the pilot is in constant communication which may take priority over questions.

Can I choose my seat?

In most cases, no.

Weight balance determines the allocated seats and luggage placement in the helicopter.

Can I use my cellphone during the flight?

Mobile phone can be used if set on airplane mode during the entirety of the flight, including take-off and landing.

Is smoking allowed?

It is strictly prohibited to smoke inside or within the entire helicopter landing or take-off area.

Can I bring a beverage inside the cabin?

Passengers are not permitted to bring any type of beverage in the cabin.

How and when should I exit the helicopter?

No. Please wait for the instructions of Monacair personnel.

Can helicopters fly by night?

Yes, we can fly during the night but only with twin engine helicopters as per regulations.

Local regulations and opening hours also determine where and when helicopters can fly.
